Construction Updates
Ongoing Work
You may see tree removal activity along Sparks Blvd. between Prater way and O’Callaghan Drive. This is needed to accommodate the roadway widening. Tree branches may fall into your yard. The construction team is available to remove any branches. Tree removal will be ongoing throughout September.

Tree removal is ongoing along Sparks Boulevard between Prater Way and O’Callaghan Drive. This is needed to accommodate the roadway widening. Trees are recycled and used along the Truckee River for river stabilization to control erosion and rebuild banks.
Crews are working on potholing, work within the North Truckee Drain, and utility relocations. Utility improvements include relocation of a Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) Water Main and NV Energy gas line.
Drivers will see lane and shoulder closures, detours, sidewalk detours and intermittent RTC transit disruptions. Business access will be maintained. Construction operations will mostly take place from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the northbound direction and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the southbound direction, Monday to Friday. Nighttime work and marathon weekend work are anticipated, with traffic control updates communicated in advance. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra drive time and sign up for text and email notifications.
